Laser eye surgery is a procedure intended to reduce or eliminate a person\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s dependency on glasses or contact lenses. The surgeon uses a knife called the microkeratome, to make a superficial flap in the patient\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s cornea. The laser is then used to reshape the deeper surface of the cornea, before the flap is replaced.
